Emerald Earl Perry 91 of Belding beloved father, grandfather and great
grandfather passed away Friday morning, September 29, 2006 at Spectrum Health
United Memorial United Campus in Greenville. Emeralds was born on April 25,
1915 in Greenville, the son of Carl and Ocie Snyder Perry. He proudly served
in the Unites States Navy during World War II. For many years Emerald was a
well known barber and beauty shop owner having shops in Greenville, Belding,
Sheridan and Grand Rapids. He had a life long love and talent for music. His
original band was the 4 Buddies which he started in the late 1940’s. He
belonged to the Musicians Union and was a member of the Muscat Ramblers.
Emerald was an avid chess player, golfer and enjoyed many board games. He
also had a great interest in astronomy ,finance and the stock market. He was
an avid card player both in Belding at the Belrockton with the Monday Euchre
Club and in Greenville at the Senior Center. He attended the First
Congregational Church in Greenville in earlier years and in the past several
years at the First Congregational Church in Belding. In addition to living in
Greenville and Crystal, Emerald spent the past 22 years living in Beldiing
where he enjoyed the friendship and care expressed to him from the staff at
Leppinks Deli, the gals at the checkout, the folks at the Apothecary, his
neighbors and caregiver of recent weeks. Friends like you gave our Dad great
comfort and he
sincerely appreciated it. Emerald was married on August 21, 1936 in
Greenville to Doris Treusdell and she preceded him in 2005. They were
together 69 loving years. He was also preceded by his son Earl Perry in 2004.
He is survived by his children; Ellen C. and Geoffrey Johnson of Grand Rapids,
Jean A. and Max Johnson of Stanton and daughter in law; Beverly Perry of
Flushing. Emerald is also survived by his grandchildren; Tim Reilly, Scott
Reilly, Lori and Daniel Koster and Kevin and Aimee Johnson, his great
grandchildren; Liane Koster, Amanda Koster, Emerald Johnson, Evan Johnson,
Alex Reilly and Ana Reilly. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Tuesday at
Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Robert Goodenough
officiating. Interment will be in Strong Cemetery, Barryton. Visitation will
be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be given to the Belding Euchre
Club or a charity of ones choice.
